November 11, 2005 - Hey Everyone -- Two huge news items... (1) We released our debut album on Apple iTunes...so those of you who use the service can now download our tracks, (2) yesterday, Thursday the 10th, we received 610 plays on Myspace...that's more plays than Slipknot and almost as many plays as Beck! We were the 247th most listened to band on Myspace...out of more than 100,000 bands!! Also, a couple updates to the site: (a) The flash player in the upper righthand corner will not automatically play anymore...you need to hit play yourself. We did this so that people who are browsing the site at work do not have to deal with the wrath of Icarus blasting loud enough to get them in trouble. October 26, 2005 - Hey there Bixby Boys and Bixby Girls there's a big election coming up in California on November 8th. There are a bunch of important ballot initiatives that are worth your while to understand and vote on. The expected turnout is 3% of registered voters. It scares me that a very small group of people will determine some very important decisions in our state. This year your vote counts more than ever. September 17, 2005 - Thank you to everyone who came to the Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo shows--- we are overwhelmed by all of the support. Our weekend started early on Thursday when we played live on KTYD on the morning show. It was our first on-air performance, and we have Matt, Julie, & Hayseed at KTYD to thank for the opportunity. KTYD, 99.9fm, is a ClearChannel-owned rock station out of Santa Barbara that I've spent my entire life listening to... it really felt good to see a station of that calibur support our music. If you missed the performance, I've posted it on our MySpace page at www.MySpace.com/Bixby . After the radio performance, we played that night at SOhO-- and another big thank you is in order to the 200+ people who came out to support us. A special thank you goes out to the Hula Anyone? studio, who suprised us with beautiful hula dancers for our version of White Sandy Beach. Another huge thank you goes out to Crosby Loggins, his band the Namedroppers, and to Nick Hartley for helping us orchestrate what I can say with confidence was a successful night. The weekend didn't end after SOhO. In a last-minute fire drill, we drove up from SOhO to the Downtown Brewery in San Luis Obispo and filled-in at the last minute for our first return to SLO since our Cambria show. I've got to say that is one hell of a venue-- and some really cool people that own it. We will be heading back up there again to do a big show soon. Thank you to Joe & the Downtown Brew staff. September 12, 2005 - What a weekend. Our friend Sarkes just moved to SB-- lucky guy. Santa Barbara is such a great place. I got to see a bunch of old friends this weekend-- Jess & Chris, Timmy, Tyler, Alexis, Eddie, Cindy, Caitlin, Boydo, Lesh.....I'm really excited for our SOhO show on Thursday. Did everyone see the feature the Santa Barbara News Press ran on us? It's on page 38 of the "Scene" section. It was cool-- they talked about us as if everyone should already know who we are! I love that! Got some great advice from Eddie about taking our music to the next level-- thanks Eddie. We have to play without Andy on Thursday which really sucks....but at least we have Burman -- who I might add is awesome-- to fill in. We miss you Andy; hope all is well in Costa Rica. I'm listening to the new David Gray via NPR webcast right now -- the guy has come a really long way in the last 2 years. His new single is addictive. Nothing but heart for all of you-- we are going to make something of all of this; I swear it.

August 22, 2005 - Thank you to everyone who came to the show at the Good Hurt on Saturday-- MORE THAN $3,500.00 was raised for the construction of the orphanage in Bangladesh- how badass is that! On another note, I went to Venice beach yesterday-- that place makes me so depressed. The water and beach are so damn polluted... you end up smelling like sewage after you go in the water. I really hope places like Carpas never end up looking/smelling like Venice.
August 20, 2005 - I can't wait to rock everyone's world at The Good Hurt tonight. But first, I have to finish my application to the UC Davis Medical school. Right now I am writing about my experience playing in a rock n' roll band and how it will make me a better physician. The only similarity between medicine and music that I've come up with is they both allow you to develop deep connections with strangers even if its just for a few moments. Additionally, I'm certain that the dexterity I've developed as a bass played will help me give the best rectal exams in the business.

July 18, 2005 - We had an awesome show at Whiskey Dick's Saloon in South Lake Tahoe on Saturday. I've never had so much fun on stage. It was well worth the nine hour drive from LA. It was great to have so many of our friends in one place having a good time. Big thanks to Brad Wolfe for coming out and playing with us, to Jay Robinson for putting it all together and to all the kids from Cal and USAC who made the long trip to Tahoe. June 20, 2005 - A couple of thank yous are in order after this weekend: #1 Thank you to Laura Ellen and KPIG radio for their support of our music. #2 Thank you to the City of Cambria (especially Courtney Craig!) for inviting us to come play at the "Concerts in the Park" series yesterday-- we had a great time and really enjoyed meeting so many of you. #3 Thank you so much to our travelling Bixby ensemble, especially the Bixby girls: Isobel, Alex, and the newest additions: Heather and Alice. June 17, 2005 - We're getting ready to come up to Cambria this weekend for our Father's Day concert in Shamel Park...it's going to be a very good time. We get to play for a full 2 hours, so those of you who attend will get to see the full spectrum of Bixby music. We're also excited to announce that we will be playing at Whiskey Dick's Saloon in Lake Tahoe for the USAC Reunion / Chelsea Bernstein's Birthday on July 16th....going to be a RIDICULOUS weekend.....hope everyone's doing well- love, the uke kook

June 7, 2005 - BIXBY In San Francisco! I am looking forward to seeing all the SF BUDDY peeps this weekend. Rave On! The support from all of you is truly noticed and appreciated. We have a great weekend planned. Friday night, the Bixby show at the Great American Music Hall. After that some of what I am sure will prove to be questionable behavior from the band & friends at any number of the fine pubs in town. Sat. afternoon off to enjoy some theatre @ the Post Street Theatre and Sat. night the boys are going out to the ball park for some good ol American Base Ball. How Metro Sexual. Music, Theatre and sports all on the same day! Come On! Sunday, a beautiful drive down to Santa Barbara for a CD release party at SOHO. Your all invited. Peace. .......Shotz:drums/vox.......ps. June 3, 2005 - Its 1am right now and I can't sleep because I'm so excited to play at The Great American Music Hall in San Francisco next Friday June, 10th. I'd like to take this moment of insomnia to thank all the super old school fans who've been supporting our music since long before we were called Bixby. A lot of great people have dragged themselves out to see a lot of shows here in LA, in Berkeley, SF, and even Perth, Australia where it all began for me. Here's to you fine people and to everyone who's recently joined the Bixby bandwagon. Whether you're at the show on Friday or someplace far away we'll be drinking to you. June 1, 2005 - What up, Bixby people? Darnell, here...the tall guy with the Tele. So much great stuff going on with this band right now...unfortunately, security concerns forbid me from sharing it. What I can tell you is that I have had nothing but good times since hooking up with these mooks late in the recording process. SF people: The Great American Music Hall (Fri., 6/10) is a fantastic place and we will surely rock it...see ya there. SB people: well, you don't know me yet but don't miss our show at SoHo on Sun. 6/12...we get to play an extra long set of old favorites and stuff from the CD...even some brand new stuff. Life is good.
